Although class hours are part-time, homeopathy is a deep subject that requires considerable time for studying. Home assignments will be given after each class weekend so we encourage you to ensure that you have adequate time in your life to study.
What is health? What is illness? What is cure? Why do some people suffer from repeated illness, while others don’t?
The Foundation year of the VHA programme is a deep exploration of what homeopathy is all about. Through learning the principles and philosophy that are the cornerstone of this healing art, you will begin to make the shift in thinking to understanding health and illness from a holistic perspective.
This is an exciting and stimulating year that will allow you to "test the waters" of homeopathy while providing you with a sound, systematic understanding of its principles and philosophy. You will learn how to apply homeopathy effectively as a means of self-help for yourself, family and friends, in simple first aid and everyday acute situations. While this year alone will not train you to be a homeopathic practitioner, it is the basis for learning more in-depth homeopathy and is the foundation for practitioner training.
This year will be a deepening of what has been learned in the first year. Your understanding of homeopathy will grow through your participation in the Student Clinic and through on-going lectures and studies. Guest speakers will share their insight and experience to help expand your knowledge and to introduce different styles of learning and practice.
Human Sciences studies begin in Year Two. In preparation for this portion of the course, we will require your transcript of completion for a recognized Anatomy & Physiology course before the year begins. For information on recognized courses: In-Class Course / Correspondence Course
This final year of lectures is integrated with extensive “hands-on” practice of all you’ve been learning. Increased participation in the Student Clinic hones and your ability to "think like a homeopath" and in year three you will also begin Clinical Supervision. You’ll be assigned a one-on-one supervisor/mentor who will work with you to the end of year four to help facilitate your transition from student to practitioner. In addition, you will also be assigned a series of cases with the Homeopathic Symposium, an advanced, online homeopathic teaching forum.
This year is clinically centred and is concentrates primarily on refining your skills as you focus on taking cases and start building your practice. Relevant issues such as advanced case-taking techniques, strategies for case-management and how to build a practice will be included. Student Clinic will be the emphasis while Clinical Supervision continues, and more cases are assigned with the Homeopathic Symposium. Year Four will provide a forum to explore issues that arise in practice as you take your final steps toward becoming a practitioner.
